Pick-a-Card 29 March 2019

This week I’m using the Faeries Oracle by Brian Froud. This is not your typical oracle deck but so much more. Faeries are magicial, special and we often forget about them. Today we are reminding ourselves of their pure spirits, hearts and intentions.

“Using the enchanted art of Brian Froud as your guide, enter into the wise and wonderful world of the faeries. The Faeries’ Oracle calls on sylphs, pans, gnomes — and, of course, faeries — to lead you on a delightful journey of adventure, discovery, and enlightenment that will illuminate the future and heal the heart and soul.”

The Faeries’ Oracle

So for today’s feature, I’ve given the cards a good shuffle and drew 4 cards at random for you. Pay attention to your thoughts, your breath, and your initial reactions when you look at the 4 choices. Let your gut/intuition guide you to pick a card you are most drawn to.

Card 1

The Singer of Connection
Spiritual connection – Karma – Balance – Empathy

Through the power of this Singer, all connections are made, held, and released, as appropriate. This Singer indicates the connection of things, especially reconnecting those that have been sundered. It is unifying and reunifying. It tells us that we need to be aware of the connections between different aspects of the issue under discussion, as well as the connections between the people linked by it. We also may need to build more connections, a network of mutual support. The presence of the Singer indicates support and strength flowing through the connections between those involved.

Card 2

The Faery Godmother
Gifts – Talents – Grace – Helpful lessons

The Faery Godmother offers last minute rescues. When she turns up, good things may well be happening that we dont think we deserve – or that we do deserve but haven’t thought to ask for. Almost imperceptibly she teaches us about giving and receiving unconditionally, helping us to open our hearts to love and acceptance. She sometimes showers us with abundance. Keep an eye out for unexpected good fortune, especially when you thought you saw bad luck headed your way.
Remember to say thank you by passing a kindness on to someone else. Practice a little faery godmothering yourself and see how enjoyable it is. Part of the fun of it is to do it so that the recipient doesn’t knw where the gift came from.

Card 3

The Oak Men
Strength – Ancient wisdom – Depth

The Oak Men depicts the strength and wisdom of age. It also reminds us that what we need to know, what is truly there to be seen, cannot be discovered by a superficial glance and hasty reaction. They tell us to look slowly and deeply into the heart of the matter and to see past the superficialities of the surface. Consider the history of the situation in depth, and learn from the past. Consult others with more experience than you have. Learn from the wisdom of the elders, both those available to you personally and those you encounter in books and elsewhere. In this matter it would be wise to make your decisions after more pondering and study of the situation. Consider motivations in depth. Take action only after thorough deliberation. The Oak Men tell us that haste may be, at this moment, our worst enemy.

They also suggest that we might learn a lot from trees. Consider the trees and their wisdom. Connect with a wise old one and ask for help.

Card 4

The Guardian at the Gate

Passages to new life – Openings – Gatekeepers

This card indicates that a passage is being made to the beginning of something new in your life. It speaks of new opportunities and new openings. Passing through this gate may lead to a physical journey, a mental or an emotional one, or a journey of the spirit. It always leads to adventure. This gateway will also lead to significant change in our lives. The passage through such a gate changes us.

The gate we face may not seem like much, the decision to enter may not seem to be a matter of great moment, but the presence of the Guardian at the Gate tells us that something important is happening. It indicates that going forward through that gate is no small thing, but something to be approached with awareness and prayerfulness. We are embarking on a new phase of our lives, and there will be no going back once this gate has been passed. That is the kind of transition the Guardian of the Gate leads us to – always to irrevocable change. We may, of course, ask the Guardian of the Gate for guidance and protection on our journey – and we would be wide to do so.

Alternatively, you may be being asked to help open a gate for someone else, to help provide an opportunity for them. The job of a gatekeeper is merely to open the gate, not to push anyone through it.

I hope you got the message you needed today. Drop me a comment and let me know.
With so much love and an abundance of blessings,
